Sentimental Decor!!

Okay...do you have some sentimental objects that are important to you, but you just don't know what to do with them? I have lots of things I like to keep! (I guess that is why I am the clutter queen! ha ha!!) I  recently came across some items that belonged to my great grandmother and wanted to do something unique with them.  After much thought I decided to put them in display box. I knew this way they would be safe from my boys and I could actually use them as decor. 
The purse on the left actually belonged to my mama! She used it all the time when I was little!!
I even kept my great granny's suitcase and placed it on the ground beneath the objects! It still has her writing on the tag!!

SUPER Excited!!

Okay..so a few days ago I shared with you guys that I was going to start tackling my closet!! I am still working on it! Don't worry...even though it will totally embarrass me I will share the before pictures with you guys!!

I LOVE ROSS!!! The store that is....They have the best stuff!! The one where I live gets new stuff everyday!! It is amazing!! I purchase the cutest laundry hamper today for $7.99!! To me....that really is unbelievable price!! It had a little "nick" in the paint and they even give me 10% off with no hesitation!! So always ask....

I also got my sons some John Deere socks (saving for Christmas stockings)!! They were only a dollar!! John Deere stuff can be so expensive so I was super excited about this deal!!

My friend, Jennifer, tried to tell me how amazing this store was...I should always listen to her!! She is the best shopper!!!

God is Great!!

I want to share you with you a little personal story about something that happened to our family this week! This past Sunday at Sunday School we talked about giving back to the Lord. Of course, we discussed how we could give back with finances, time, and talents.  My family has always felt it is important to give our tithes. (However, there have been times in our lives where we weren't as faithful about giving.I know we just need to trust God and he will take care of us! )  I remember one time when my husband first started school and it was either pay the tithes and we would be running extremely low or keep the money. We paid the tithes and later that week a check came in that we didn't even know we had coming.

This past week a similiar situation happened... I couldn't believe how God worked this, but it is totally amazing to see him at work.  It is time for us to renew our contract on our apartment. Of course, our apartment company offered us a free month if we stayed another year! They are awesome and I just love living here!! I really didn't expect to get much more of a "discount", but I asked anyways! They came back with a lower offer AND told us they would divide our free month into the 12 monthes making our rent lower! I was so excited!! I love our apartment and really want to stay here! That night, when my husband and I went to bed he said he couldn't believe that we would be saving that amount of money a month.  When he said the amount of money we would be saving I asked him if he was sure. Of course, he said he was and guess what....that is the exact amount of money we pay out of his check for our tithes!! Isn't that amazing!! Our rent is not an even number, so that just does to show you even more that it is God!! I really feel like he was just sending us another one of his blessing!!

The point of this story isn't to say, " I tithe. I am so good." (Trust me I am definitely a sinner and I think God for loving me anyway.) The point is that isn't it awesome how God blesses us and loves us!! I need to do more for the Lord and devote more of my money, time, and talents to him! I am so glad he sent his son, Jesus, to die on the cross for us that we can be saved if we just believe in him and accept him into our hearts!! To God be the Glory...Great things he hath done!!!

Just a suggestion.....

Okay...if you know you are going shopping and you are heading to a certain store then go online to check out their website!! You just never know where coupons could be hiding!! For example, I knew I was going to Steinmart today to pick up something...so....I just looked and their website and signed up to receive their e-mails and wow!!! a 20% off coupon!!

Organizing Tip #21

So I finally took a minute to clean out this old junky drawer!  I hope my post will encourage each of you to clean out something you have been dreading!! Up next...my closet...this should be interesting!! hahaha!!


My drawer started off filled to the top with papers, receipts, bills, etc. (and No I didn't add to it) I am embrassed at the fact that I could hardly open and close the drawer without something getting suck or falling out!! So the first thing I did was to unload the drawer and throw out all the trash! I then paid all my bills & filed my bills and receipts in folders I purchased at Wal-Mart. Since we live in a small apartment I don't have a lot of room for storage, but I placed the folders below my desk drawer and I also decided to move my printer down there, so I would have more room on the top of the desk to work! However, I didn't like the way it looked! Even though, it was clean it just wasn't very cute so I headed to JoAnn's and purchased some on sale fabric. I made this little piece to cover up the the books and files under the desk!! Well, this lead to....recovering the chair and making the wall canvas area above my bed! I have been wanting to do this for a long time! Since I was putting my fabric under my drawer anyway I decided to just go ahead and do the other jobs in my room I had been wanting to do!!


There was a lot of my son's "art work" in the drawer! I really wanted to keep some of it. While at Michael's I found these cute scrapbooks for $3.33, so I purchased two. (one for each of my children) I placed their art work in there for safe keeping! There were also a few items in the drawer that my husband needed to go through. He seems to like to wait until things build up and then go through them all at one time! I took these boxes (that matched my scrapbooks) I purchased at Michael's last week for $1.50 each!! Now his junk (I mean paperwork) is neat looking until he gets a minute to go through it!! I uses simple ziploc bags to hold certain items together, 2 photo cases for small items (purchased at Michaels), and a photo pen case for all my pens and pencils!!

My mom also got this organizing tray for my husband so when he comes home he can put all his stuff in there instead of in the drawer. We have had it a while, but finally got it in a place to put it to good use!

Life is like cleaning out this drawer in the way that when he get rid of all the trash (drama) in our lives we can see the useful things and semimental aspects of life and begin to enjoy them!! Plus you realize one good thing really can lead to another!!
